Abstract

In line with the general shift to mobile web, the majority of customer
visits to the Blue Tomato online shop are now from mobile devices.
Mobile development is not simply about shrinking the pages and
converting the desktop site. Mobile is a paradigm shift, both in terms
of usage patterns and customer intentions. This talk will discuss some
of the considerations behind the design and implementation of Blue
Tomato's webshop, with a particular focus on web usability and the
mobile web.



Bio

Andreas Augustin is Head of Webshop Development at Blue Tomato in
Graz. The Blue Tomato online shop (blue-tomato.com) serves customers
in more than 60 countries in 14 languages. His team has to balance the
introduction of new features and platform improvements with the
ever-present challenges around customer experience, performance, and
backend optimisation.

Before joining Blue Tomato, Andreas held similar positions at
international retail and engineering companies. He has more than 15
years of experience in creating and maintaining online and ecommerce
platforms. Andreas has an MSc. in Software Development and Economics
from Graz University of Technology.
